Parkinson's Support / Exercise Group

The classes are free and open to people living with Parkinson’s, including those in wheelchairs, and their family and supporters.

Parkinson's Exercise Support Group is a community-focused organization that provides a supportive environment for individuals living with Parkinson's disease to engage in physical activity and rehabilitation. The aim is to improve mobility, balance, strength, and overall quality of life through structured exercise programs tailored to the needs of Parkinson's patients. Activities may include stretching, aerobic exercises, resistance training, yoga, Tai Chi, and dance, all facilitated by trained professionals or volunteers.

The support group also offers emotional encouragement, education about disease management, and social interaction, which can reduce feelings of isolation and promote mental well-being. Members often share experiences, coping strategies, and motivate each other to stay active and committed to their health goals.

Participation in a Parkinson's exercise support group can significantly slow disease progression, enhance daily functioning, and foster a sense of community and empowerment among members.

Parkinson's Support/Exercise Group is on Wednesday nights from 6-7pm at the Mandarin Campus. It’s an open group without registration. For more information, please contact Kim McNickle at Kmcnickle@christs.church.
